Great pen at a very low price
The most comfortable and smooth fountain pen I've ever tried. Don't look at the low price. It's a top notch quality. And the plastic is so sturdy and pleasant to touch with its matte finish. Greate writer

Awesome Fountain Pen!
This pen is an excellent upgrade to the Lamy Safari! It writes smoothly and reliably. The pen punches way above its price point.

Great pen from a great brand
I really like Lamy fountain pens. The Al-Star is no exception. I have several Lamys, and I can't decide which I like best. They all write well. Make sure to first clean them thoroughly, especially any converters using a bulb syringe and a regular syringe and blunt needle for the converter respectively using dish soap and water (they can have oily manufacturing residue) for best performance. The Al-Star is comfortable to hold, well balanced, and modern looking. Lamy's interchangeable nibs are in a class of their own as far as looks and performance go, despite their relative wide nib-size variability compared to the three big Japanese brands.

Love it
I really love this pen. I know more experienced fountain pen users have left more detailed reviews (I read a ton of reviews before purchasing) but as someone who hadn’t used a fountain pen in years and was a little unsure, I really really love this pen. It’s cute, easy to use, easy to use with Lamy refillable cartridges, comfortable to hold and for a very functional design the beauty of the color just makes it a pleasure to use.

Too big
Not good, the pen came a little too big and when I tried to return it I have to pay over 70$ shipping which is double what the pen is worth.

Solid beginner pen
Wanted a fountain pen that would be easy for beginners, got what I wanted. Solid construction, smooth writing with very little feedback. Lost 1 star because the clip gets a little loose after use, and the ink that comes with the pen is subpar. Buy a converter and better ink from a company that's not Lamy. But, given the quality of the pen itself, it's worth it.

intro to fountain pens
Bought this for my DH who is left-handed, but is trying to learn to write with his right hand. I have several fountain pens and wanted to introduce him to the joy of using a fountain. He loves it and has been practicing every day. He has been enjoying it so much, I ended up buying him a second one so he could have the quick option to use blue or black! It's a nice pen that writes smoothly and has a nice weight in the hand. great starter fountain pen
